Cops say they found a mother and her adult daughter beaten to death in their Bronx apartment last night, after a family member alerted authorities that he was unable to contact the two women.
According to investigators, Ida Randolf, 55, and her 21-year-old daughter Jena Randolf were found dead just before 6 p.m. yesterday, at their apartment at 2897 Valentine Avenue, near the Grand Concourse. The officers were performing a wellness check after being contacted by the elder Randolf's son, who was concerned that he was unable to reach her or his sister.
After breaking down the door, cops discovered the Randolfs' bodies in separate bedrooms; Ida Randolf's hands were reportedly bound, and police say Jena Randolf was naked and may have been sexually assaulted. They both suffered blunt trauma to their bodies, according to police, and their time of death was unclear.
Neighbors are alarmed by the grisly discovery. "It’s shocking. My kids grew up here. This is devastating to me," neighbor Jayyidah Nelson, who lost a son to a murder in the neighborhood in 2010, told PIX 11 News. "I’m so scared in this community, I’m gonna move now." No weapon was found at the scene, and cops are looking for more clues into the Randolfs' deaths; no arrests have been made.
