Have you ever noticed some shady character mucking about in a subway station on the opposite platform, on the other side of the tracks, perhaps yelling profanities and acting belligerent, and thought yourself, "Golly, I'm glad that ne'er-do-well isn't on my side! Over here I can enjoy my Lady Chatterley's Lover in peace." Well, it seems the other side of the tracks isn't so very far away, as one unfortunate man discovered earlier this month at the 6 train station at Lexington Avenue and 77th Street.

Police tell DNAinfo the unidentified 31-year-old victim got into "a stare down" with his alleged assailant while waiting for the 6 train on December 11th. The hoodlum, seen here in an image captured from a surveillance camera, was on the uptown side of the station, but he climbed down and walked across the trackbed to attack the man on the other side. Sounds like somebody can't handle losing a little staring contest.

ABC 7 reports that the victim was taken to Columbia Presbyterian Hospital with a laceration to his head and bleeding to his brain. Police say the suspect is described as a 30 to 40 year old black man, around six feet tall and 200 pounds. If you see him, DON'T MAKE EYE CONTACT. Call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477) or text tips to CRIMES (274637), then enter TIP577.
