A man was stabbed and seriously injured on a Bronx subway platform Tuesday night, and NYPD officials said detectives are looking for the person responsible.

Police found the man with stab wounds to his chest around 10:15 p.m. on the northbound B train platform at the Bedford Park Boulevard station, according to the NYPD. First responders took him to St. Barnabas Hospital in critical condition, the NYPD said.

Officials said he is at least 30 years old, but did not have further identifying information. Police said they also did not yet have a description of a possible suspect, and were still looking into a possible motive for the attack.

NYPD data through Oct. 26 shows felony assaults, which cause serious injuries, are up 18% compared to this point last year in the 52nd Precinct, which includes Bedford Park, Fordham, Kingsbridge, Norwood, Bronx Park and University Heights. Overall transit crime in the precinct is down about 3%.

The subway system citywide had one its safest Octobers in recorded history last month, tying a record set in 2020 when the COVID-19 pandemic radically reduced ridership.

This is a developing story based on preliminary information from police and may be updated.
