A man and woman were killed in separate stabbings in the Bronx and Manhattan early Sunday and Monday, and police have not yet made any arrests, NYPD officials said.
According to the department, officers responded to a slashing at a nightclub on West 202nd Street near 10th Avenue in Inwood around 3:30 a.m. Monday and found a 28-year-old man with a wound to his neck. First responders took him to Harlem Hospital in stable condition, officials said.
Police said that less than an hour later, they learned of a 31-year-old man in the vicinity who had been stabbed in his shoulder. He was also taken to Harlem Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Officials said they were investigating whether he was stabbed at the lounge or around the corner.
The NYPD did not identify the man as they worked to notify his family. Officials said the stabbings may have been sparked by a brawl at the nightclub.
Police also said they were looking for a man who allegedly stabbed two women, killing one of them, around 7 a.m. Sunday at a building on East 161st Street and Park Avenue in the Bronx’s Concourse Village.
Officers found a 57-year-old woman and her 40-year-old daughter, and both had multiple stab wounds, according to the NYPD. First responders took them to Lincoln Hospital, where the older woman was pronounced deceased. Officials identified her as Rosemary Tapia-Bautista and said her daughter was in stable condition.
The man was last seen wearing a black sweater, black sneakers and blue jeans, the NYPD said. Police said they were looking into an ex-boyfriend of one of the women as a possible suspect but were still investigating a motive.
The stabbings come days after police officials announced historic declines in homicides and shootings citywide since the start of the year, compared to the first three months of last year.
In the 34th Precinct, where the Inwood incident took place, there were zero homicides through March 30th, down from one during the same period in 2024, NYPD data shows. In the 44th Precinct, which includes Concourse Village, there were four murders through March 30th, the same number as there were by the same point last year.
This is a developing story based on preliminary information from police and may be updated.
