Police are searching for two suspects who robbed a Brooklyn deli and killed a customer who tried to stop them in the process.

Officers found Damion Francis, 32, shot at the 560 Grocery and Food Store, at 560 Remsen Avenue on October 27th around 9:20 p.m. He was taken to Brookdale Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

It turned out that Francis was shopping at the deli, when two people came into the store to rob it. According to the NYPD, "Suspect #1, armed with a gun, approached the counter and demanded money. The victim then attempted to intercede when the suspect turned and shot him. Suspect #1 then reached over the counter removed an undetermined amount of money from the register and fled the scene."

Police released surveillance footage of the two male suspects, describing suspect #1 as 5'7" and 150 pounds, wearing a red hooded sweatshirt and grey pants; and suspect #2 as 5'8" and weighing 160 pounds, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.

Francis' mother Beverley Bailey told WABC 7, "He had a nice soft heart; he loved to help people... I started to cry and I cried for like two days straight and I couldn't eat anything." She said she forgave her son's killers: "If it happened that they get caught then I would like to go and sit with them and just introduce them to the Father up in heaven so they can have life and live it abundantly, because he will forgive them."

Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS. The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers Website at WWW.NYPDCRIMESTOPPERS.COM or texting their tips to 274637(CRIMES) then enter TIP577.
