A man was struck and killed by a subway train on the Upper West Side this morning after police say he jumped into its path. According to an NYPD spokesperson, the man jumped in front of an uptown 1 train inside the West 72nd Street station shortly before 7 a.m. Thursday.

The man has not yet been identified. The Daily News notes that multiple service disruptions took place following the deadly incident. Uptown 1 trains were reportedly running express from 34th Street Penn Station to 96th Street, while 1, 2, and 3 trains were experiencing residual delays and skipping the West 72nd Street station.

As a result of the incident, the MTA is currently reporting "extensive delays" on the 1,2,3, and 5 train lines.
