Police have arrested one man for his alleged involvement in three gang rape & robbery incidents, and are searching for his two accomplices.
Fernando Sandel, 26, has been charged with two counts of rape, strangulation and robbery in the incidents, which all took place between June 28th and August 4th. The police have the details of all three incidents:
On Sunday, June 28, 2015, at 2350 hours, the victim, a 20-year-old female, made arrangements to meet with one of the suspects on East 138 Street in the South Bronx. The suspects showed up, with one [other] suspect, and forced the victim to the roof of the location where they raped her and removed her money. The victim was removed to Lincoln Hospital where she was treated and released.
On Monday, August 3, 2015, at 1625 hours, the victim, a 34-year-old female, made arrangements to meet one of the suspects at the Grand Hyatt Hotel located at 109 East 42 Street. When the suspect arrived at the room, he sprayed the victim in the face with an unknown substance and threw her on the bed. Two additional suspects also came into the room where all three tied the victim up. All three suspects then raped the victim and removed her cell phone and pocketbook. The victim was removed to St Luke’s Hospital where she was treated and released.
On Tuesday, August 4, 2015, at 2240 hours, the victim, a 32-year-old female, made arrangements to meet one of the suspects at her apartment on Lexington Avenue in the Gramercy Park Section of Manhattan. When the suspect arrived at the apartment, he maced the victim and threw her on the bed. The two additional suspects arrived at the location and tied up the victim. All three suspects then raped the victim and removed her phone, laptop and bracelet. The victim was removed to an area hospital where she was treated and released.
The two men police are currently looking for are 31-year-old Isaiah Rivera and 26-year-old Joey Cruz. It's unclear which of the three men were involved in the first incident.
Anyone with information in regards to any of these incidents, or the whereabouts of the two additional suspects, is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers Website or texting their tips to 274637(CRIMES) then enter TIP577.
