Police are searching for a man accused of a brutal attack on his wife in Brooklyn on Thursday afternoon: He allegedly chopped off one of her arms and then two fingers from the other hand.
The attack happened around noon yesterday, in an apartment near 55th Street and 5th Avenue in Sunset Park. According to the NYPD, officers responded to a 911 call and found a 35-year-old woman with "her right arm severed and two fingers severed from her left hand." The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital and is in critical but stable condition.
The suspect, Young Lu, fled.
The NY Post and Daily News cite sources that say the victim is pregnant and had been "waiting on her 7-year-old son to get finished with school" when her husband attacked her. Her right arm was cut with a steak knife at the bicep, according to the Post, and was reportedly amputated.
Police describe Lu as about 5'8" and 160 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.
Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime stoppers website at WWW.NYPDCRIMESTOPPERS.COM or by texting their tips to 274637 (CRIMES) then enter TIP577.
