Pittsburgh had already won by the time the Rangers hit the ice Sunday leaving the Rangers with a two-point lead in the Atlantic Division. So, this was a game they really had to win and they did, beating the Islanders 4-3 in overtime and showing a lot of grit along the way. Throughout the game, the Islanders kept taking leads and the Rangers kept tying things up. John Tavares put the Islanders up 1-0, but Brad Richard tied things up. Matt Moulson put them up again and once again, Brad Richards tied things up. Andrew MacDonald put the Islanders up 3-2 at the end of 2, but Brian Boyle tied things up in the third. But, Travis Hamonic hooked Carl Hagelin in OT and the Rangers took advantage with Marian Gaborik scoring with 6 seconds left to win the game.
The Knicks remained winless in March as they fell to Philadelphia 106-94 Sunday. Jeremy Lin had a bad game, shooting 5-for-18 from the field and committing 6 turnovers. Carmelo Anthony scored 22, but only shot 5-for-13. Tyson Chandler returned from injury, but the defense was still porous, allowing the Sixers to shoot 50% from the field. Things don't get any easier for New York as they face the Bulls later today.
New Jersey scored three-straight goals in the third to beat Philadelphia 4-1. Ilya Kovalchuk had a a goal and two assists while Martin Brodeur made 18 saves for the win.
