Yankees 3, Mets 2: Andy Pettitte pitched through a rain delay, and Johan Santana couldn't pitch through another meager output from the Mets bats. Pettitte came out after a 53-minute rain delay and gave up a solo homer to David Wright. But that only made the game 3-2, and, with some good relief pitching from Jose Veras, Kyle Farnsworth and Mariano Rivera, the Yanks had their second straight win against the Mets. Robinson Cano's single proved to be the decisive blow.
As for the Mets' offense, it can't get out of its own way. After a 15-run explosion in Friday's opener, the Mets have reverted to their slumping ways. Jose Reyes didn't help the cause by getting picked off second base with David Wright up in the fifth inning. Santana has been fine this year, but his 7-7 record is a result of a lack of scoring. The two teams play Sunday afternoon.

Red Bulls 1, Chivas USA 1: All eyes of the soccer word are on Sunday's European Championship final between Germany and Spain. Dave van den Bergh scored the Red Bulls' first-half goal, but that strike was answered by Ante Razov when he beat Jon Conway.
-
Monarchs 82, Liberty 78: Make free throws! The Liberty made only 11 of their 24 attempts -- that's 46 percent for those scoring at home -- and lost on the road. Sacramento made its key foul shots down the stretch.
