- Rangers 4, Capitals 3: Twice the Rangers rallied from one-goal deficits to win their third straight game and their second straight on the road. Marian Gaborik had the game-tying and go-head goals one minute, 42 seconds apart in the middle of the third period. He has at least one point in every game this season and his making good on the Rangers investment. The Rangers are now 3-1 after losing the opener to Pittsburgh last week. Ryan Callahan and Ales Kotalik also lit the lamp. Capitals star Alex Ovechkin didn't get much done and finished without a point.
- Senators 3, Islanders 2 (OT): John Tavares had an assist on Matt Moulson’s goal, but the Islanders still fell 32 seconds into overtime. The Islanders have finished both their games tied after 60 minutes and fallen in the extra session each time. Kyle Okposo scored to make the Senators' lead 2-1 before Mouson tied it. The Islanders will try for the first win when they visit Boston on Saturday.
- Devils 4, Lightning 3 (SO): Jamie Langenbrunner and Zach Parise scored in the shootout as the Devils, but it was Travis Zajac's goal with one second to go that sent this game to overtime. Parise also had a goal in regulation as the Devils blew 1-0 and 2-1 leads before the miracle finish sent the game to overtime.
