- Rangers 5, Lightning 0: Are the Rangers waking up in time? They scored twice in the game's first 3:34 and are now within two points of Boston for the final playoff spot. They're also tied with Atlanta, which has played one more game than both the Bruins and the Rangers. Brandon Prust and Marc Staal had the early strikes, but the Rangers weren't finished. Vinny Prospal and Brandon Dubinsky also scored before the first intermission. Henrik Lundqvist made 22 saves for the shutout. The Rangers head across Florida to play the Panthers on Saturday.
- Blackhawks 2, Devils 1 (SO): The point helped the Devils move into a tie with Pittsburgh for the Atlantic Division lead. They would have taken the lead had they performed better in the shootout, but Jamie Langenbrunner, Zach Parise and Ilya Kovalchuk couldn't score. Kovalchuk did get his 40th goal in the first period, however.
- Golden State Warriors 128 Knicks 117: David Lee managed a triple-double—37 points with 20 rebounds and 10 assists—in the Knicks' loss.
