Montreal 3 Rangers 2: The Rangers slept through most of the first two periods, but they awoke for a frenetic third period. The problem was that by that point Montreal had a two-goal lead and only Mats Zuccarello could find the back of the net, despite a 21-shot effort.

Florida 3 Devils 2 (OT): Dave Clarkson tied things up for New Jersey in the third period, but the Panthers scored near the end of OT to earn two points.

Islanders 5 Buffalo 3: The Sabres scored the first goal, but John Tavares answered with a natural hat-trick to propel New York to the win.

Portland 96 Nets 89: Brook Lopez had another big game with 32 points, but he couldn't do it alone as New Jersey fell apart in the fourth quarter.
