A 102-90 win over Atlanta helped the Knicks end the nominal first half of the NBA season on a bright note. The Knicks have played 54 games, which is well more than half of the 82 they will play this season, and they are two games over .500. Amar'e Stoudemire had 23 points, Wilson Chandler had 20 and Danilo Gallinari had 17. The 28th win matched their average victory total for the previous five seasons. It is also the latest in a season they have been over .500 since 2001. But Mike D'Antoni said, "We have a ways to go yet." The Knicks would be the No. 6 seed in the Eastern Conference if the season ended now.
How not to win: Score only 10 points in the fourth quarter. That's what the Nets did in a 94-80 loss to Boston. They sit at 17-39 entering their period of rest. Brook Lopez had 18.
Another win for the Devils, who aren't dead yet. They've won five in a row after Ilya Kovalchuk scored his 20th goal of the season to help the Devils to a 3-2 win over Carolina. Brian Rolston and Patrik Elias had the other goals.
