The Mets' Dillon Gee took his first loss of the season, and boy, did he earn it in a 7-3 defeat to Oakland at home. He walked six A's in four innings—two of the free passes forced in runs—and struck out only one. He allowed only four runs because he surrendered only three hits, but the damage could have been worse. The Mets made some noise late but have now lost four of five beginning with last Thursday's crushing loss to Atlanta. Jason Bay did hit a home run, his first extra-base hit in 89 at-bats and 25 games. (Yes, that's a long time.) Off Gee's 87 pitches, only 45 were strikes. The Yankees, by the way, were rained out in Cincinnati and will play two games on Wednesday.
