Devils 3, Thrashers 1: Not only were the Devils able to stop their losing streak, but they beat they got revenge against Atlanta. New Jersey ended its 6-game skid and won its first game since Jacques Lemaire replaced John MacLean. Earlier in December, Atlanta thrashed the Devils, 7-1 (using last year's joke), but backup goalie and former Thrasher Johan Hedberg was able to turn back 28 Atlanta shots in the victory. Mark Fayne, Jamie Langenbrunner and Ilya Kovalchuk (also a former Thrasher) scored for the Devils in the win.
Islanders 4, Red Wings 3 (OT): An overtime power play goal by P.A. Parenteau gave the Islanders yet another win. The streaking team is 6-1-1 in their last eight games, which include consecutive victories over the Eastern Conference leading Penguins and now the Red Wings, the Western Conference Leaders. Dwayne Roloson saved 38 shots in Friday's win. This 8-game stretch of games comes after the team was winless for six straight games and lost 20 of 21.
Bulls 90, Nets 91: You can't say the Nets didn't have a chance to win this one. New Jersey trailed by two at midway through the 4th quarter, but Chicago used its advantage in talent to pull away. Carlos Boozer led Chicago with 20 points and 10 rebounds.
