- Flyers 3, Devils 2 (OT): Brian Rolston had two power-play goals for the Devils, but they needed more and couldn't get it and fell behind two games to one in this best-of-seven series. Martin Brodeur allowed Daniel Carcillo's goal three minutes, 35 seconds into overtime. The Flyers outshot the Devils, 6-1, in the extra session and 18-4 from the third period on. Game 4 in Philadelphia is on Tuesday.
- Yankees 5, Rangers 2: The Yankees have won all four series they have played this year. All four have come against teams that finished above .500 last season, and two of them came against playoff teams. Andy Pettitte pitched eight strong innings for his second win. Mark Teixeira hit a long homer for his fifth hit of the season. He is the only Yankee struggling at the plate right now. The Yankees are 9-3 and tied for first place with Tampa Bay. They begin a nine-game, three-city road trip in Oakland on Tuesday.
- Cardinals 5, Mets 3: A three-run lead evaporated when John Maine ran out of gas in the fifth inning and served up a three-run homer to Colby Rasmus. In the eighth, Ryota Igarashi gave up a two-run homer to Ryan Ludwick after Tobi Stoner allowed Cardinals starter Adam Wainwright to double. The Mets got their three runs came when Angel Pagan knocked in two with a single and the Mets got a gift when a Cardinals throwing error led to the third run. Maine walked four and struck out four in his five middling innings, throwing 115 (!) pitches. That didn't help the Mets on the heels of Saturday's 20-inning marathon. Wainwright went the distance for the Cardinals. The Mets return home to face the Cubs on Monday.
