In Seaside Heights, no good deed goes unpunished. Lifeguards in the Jersey shore town were attacked by the very man they saved, police say. The man, who is from Philadelphia (of course) NJ (of course), was allegedly drunk
According to NBC New York, "Ivan Rivera was under the influence of alcohol when he was caught in a rip current with another man and both were swept out to sea Saturday evening, said Seaside Heights Police Chief Tommy Boyd." Naturally, lifeguards went to rescue the pair, and "Rivera allegedly attacked two other lifeguards who came over to help, striking one of them in the jaw."
Beach director Jay Boyd said, "He was clearly under the influence." Rivera was charged with simple assault, disorderly conduct and underage drinking.
