You’re not imagining it. It’s raining again.

Rains descended upon New York City and its surrounding areas early Friday morning and are expected to persist Saturday, marking the city's seventh consecutive weekend of rain, according to the National Weather Service.

Most areas in the New York region were expected to receive about an inch of rainfall into Saturday, with some areas possibly getting roughly an inch and a half, according to the latest forecast. There were no flash flooding concerns cited by the NWS, but some nuisance flooding was possible in low lying and poor drainage areas.

“We seem to be stuck in a pattern of weather systems visiting us every seven days or so,” said Bill Goodman, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.

Central Park received more rain last month than it had in any other September since 1883, according to NWS records. Goodman said the current pattern “may be starting to shift” — though it was “anyone’s guess” at the moment when weekends would stop being consistently waterlogged.

“We managed to have fair weather last Sunday, I think that's going to be the case this weekend, too," he said.

The forecast for Sunday is looking dry and brisk, with high temperatures in the mid to upper 50s.

Will we finally get relief next weekend? Alas, no. Forecasters are expecting yet another wet Saturday, but Goodman held out hope.

“Maybe we'll actually end up with a dry weekend somewhere along the line,” he said with a chuckle. “Maybe in November.”
