Leading Democratic candidates in New York City's mayoral race will face off Thursday night in a debate co-hosted by WNYC/Gothamist, just two days before early voting begins in the June primary election.

Coverage from the debate stage at John Jay College starts at 7 p.m. and will last about two hours. The qualifying candidates, based on their campaign fundraising or performance in the polls to date, include state Assemblymember Zohran Mamdani, former Gov. Andrew Cuomo, city Comptroller Brad Lander, former city Comptroller Scott Stringer, City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams, state Sen. Zellnor Myrie, and former hedge fund manager Whitney Tilson.

It will be this election cycle’s second and last Democratic mayoral debate sponsored by the city’s Campaign Finance Board, which requires candidates to participate as a condition of receiving public matching funds. The debate comes less than two weeks before Primary Day on June 24, when many voters will cast ballots in the ranked-choice contest in which they can rank up to five candidates.

Spectrum News NY1 and nonprofit newsroom The City are also co-hosting Thursday’s debate, which will broadcast live on WNYC and NY1 broadcast on YouTube. WNYC host Brian Lehrer, NY1 host Errol Louis and The City reporter Katie Honan will serve as moderators.

The first CFB-sponsored debate last week focused on the mayoral candidates’ stances toward President Donald Trump and the gubernatorial record of Cuomo, who has been widely seen as a front-runner, though Mamdani’s campaign has surged in recent polls.
