The 11-year-old bicyclist who was seriously injured after a driver recklessly slammed into him is continuing his recovery. Richard Glanville is at Long Island Jewish Hospital, and his mother says he doesn't remember anything about the crash on a residential Queens street, which was caught on tape.
Kahvene Glanville told WCBS 2, "I was home and he had literally just left off the block five minutes ago. They called my phone, he said my son had been hit. They gave me an address and I ran out the house immediately."
On Monday evening, around 7:40 p.m., Richard turned to go south on Dickens Street from Healy Street when a black sedan going north on Dickens Street crashed into him head-on. Video shows the boy being sent airborne, and then sliding down the street.
Kahvene Glanville added that besides Richard's injuries, his bike was totaled.
The driver fled, but police found the car—which had a shattered windshield—and arrested Agostinho Sinclair, 41. He was charged with reckless endangerment, leaving the scene of an accident, and aggravated unlicensed operator of a motor vehicle.
Richard's grandmother yelled at Sinclair when he was brought to the precinct, asking why he didn't stop and noting that Richard had just celebrated his 11th birthday:
