This week has been filled to the gills with nakedness: yesterday there was the East Village topless woman, and on Wednesday there was the upstate woman who decided to take a completely naked stroll through a Saratoga Springs lumber store and convenient store. Below, you can now see NSFW video of Barabara Lafleur "merely expressing her freedom to be fully liberated."
Lafleur told police she believes in the freedom of nudism; on her Facebook page, she writes that her goal is "to enjoy life fully by maximizing my potential in all areas of interest and expertise." "A psychiatrist examined her and said she is perfectly fine, so that was a different kind of response than we had anticipated," Saratoga County District Attorney James Murphy III told The Huffington Post. "She was not on any drugs or medications we are aware of."
While it's legal to go topless in NY State (thanks to a 1992 ruling), it's still not legal to go completely naked in public—Lafleur could face up to 90 days in prison. Murphy added: "It was bizarre. It was a very bizarre case...This [incident] was a first for us. I'm probably not in favor of it happening more, but it certainly has created some noise, that's for sure."
