More than 122,000 cases of Gatorade distributed across 37 states, including New York and New Jersey, are being recalled because some bottles may contain food dyes that aren't listed on the label, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
The voluntary recall by PepsiCo covers 28-ounce bottles of Gatorade Lemon Lime, Gatorade Lemon Lime Zero, Gatorade Orange and Gatorade Orange Zero. The FDA said the affected products may contain undeclared Yellow No. 5, Yellow No. 6 or both.
The recall involves 122,021 cases and was initiated Sept. 25. The FDA classified it as a Class II recall on Oct. 2, meaning exposure to the products could cause temporary or medically reversible health effects, while the likelihood of serious health consequences is considered remote.
The affected Gatorade was distributed in New York and New Jersey, along with 35 other states. The recall remains ongoing.
The FDA listing identifies specific lot numbers for the recalled bottles.
