A former math teacher entered a guilty plea deal on Monday that authorities said will protect his victims from having to testify in court.

Officials said Winston Nguyen, who once worked as a teacher at Saint Ann’s Schools, in Brooklyn Heights, solicited lewd images from a handful of 13 to 15 year old children from elite independent schools throughout Brooklyn. He will likely serve seven years in prison after he is sentenced and will have to register as a sex offender, the Brooklyn district attorney said.

Nguyen’s crimes included enlisting a child in a sexual performance and five counts of endangering the welfare of a child. They began in October of 2022, prosecutors said, and went on for almost two years.

Nguyen, a 38-year-old Harlem resident, sent nude photos and a video of a teenage boy masturbating to other children on the social media site, Snapchat, officials said.

Under the usernames hunterkristoff and haircutbongos, Nguyen pretended to be a teenage boy and managed to get other children using the platform to send him similarly sexually explicit content of themselves.

Authorities said they tracked the Snapchat accounts to IP addresses linked to the former teacher. They also used accounts from the child victims and evidence of the online messages in their investigation, all while avoiding making any child testify in court, according to Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez.

“Today’s plea holds this defendant responsible for his disturbing and predatory conduct while sparing young and vulnerable victims from ever having to testify about their traumatic experiences,” Gonzalez said in a statement on Monday.
