The mini warm spell will continue for the first half of the week but a return to more seasonable weather will happen by Thursday. A surface high pressure system just offshore will provide a warm southerly breeze today, while a ridge above will bring mostly clear skies. For this afternoon we can expect a high in the lower 50s accompanied by some gusty winds.
The clear skies this morning will eventually give way to cirrus clouds later today as a warm front approaches from the west. By early tomorrow morning the low pressure system associated with that front should be close enough to produce a steady rain. The steady rain will turn to showers Tuesday afternoon as we should hit a high in the upper 40s. As the storm moves away it will drag a weak cold front across the area on Wednesday, leading, perhaps, to another round of light rain.
Once the cold front passes, the temperature should drop to a near normal high in the upper 30s on Thursday, with a little bit of rebound on Friday. Both days are likely to be mostly sunny, but there's a slight chance that a coastal storm could develop on Thursday and that might clouds or a dusting of snow. Sunny and slightly cooler than normal weather is expected for the weekend.
