A high pressure system covering much of the northeastern US should make for a quiet start to the weekend. It's mostly sunny this morning but we could see a few clouds forming this afternoon as a sea breeze circulation gets underway. There is just enough humidity in the air that the sea breeze could maybe instigate scattered showers or thunderstorms late in the afternoon, especially from the city eastward over Long Island. Today's high should reach the mid to upper 80s.
Onshore winds will let the humidity build as the day progresses tomorrow. The skies may cloud over by late afternoon but thanks to a very stable layer of air above we are unlikely to see any showers. Rain is much more likely on Sunday, especially in the evening when we could see showers and thunderstorms, as the humidity continues to build and a cold front approaches. Saturday and Sunday will see highs in the mid 80s.
Monday and Tuesday are only expected to warm to the lower 80s! That's close to normal for late August but it has been almost three weeks since it has been that cool here. Clear skies and temperatures returning to the mid and upper 80s look to be in store for late next week.
