A suspect in the bombing of a California fertility clinic was arrested at JFK Airport, federal authorities said Wednesday.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California said Daniel Jongyon Park, 32, was taken into custody at the Queens airport Tuesday evening.

Park was accused of supplying large quantities of explosive materials used in a suicide bombing at a fertility clinic in Palm Springs on May 17. Authorities said he shipped hundreds of pounds of ammonium nitrate, a key ingredient in explosives, to Guy Edward Bartkus, 25, who later drove a car bomb to the clinic and detonated it.

Bartkus died in the blast, which injured several people and destroyed the clinic, officials said.

According to court documents, Park spent several days at Bartkus’ home in Twentynine Palms earlier this year, where they allegedly ran explosive “experiments.” Law enforcement later found bomb-making materials in the garage.

Park flew to Europe several days after the bombing. He was detained in Poland on May 30 and extradited to the United States.

Attorney General Pam Bondi called the incident a “horrific attack.”

“Bringing chaos and violence to a facility that exists to help women and mothers is a particularly cruel, disgusting crime that strikes at the very heart of our shared humanity,” she said.

Park could face up to 15 years in federal prison if convicted. His attorney did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
