It’s Thursday afternoon in New York City, where we are saying goodbye to the goats of Riverside Park.
Charlie, Chico, Cowgirl, Mallomar, India, Lemon and Templeton have wrapped up their summer duties at the Upper West Side park clearing out an estimated 7,000 pounds of invasive vegetation. A sendoff ceremony will be held today where the winner of the GOAT goat contest will be announced.
Here’s what else is happening:
- Rupert Murdoch announced this morning he is retiring from the Fox and News Corporation boards and putting his son Lachlan in charge.
- Two Black TikTok workers filed a lawsuit against the company over claims of discrimination. One of the workers says she was fired after filing two complaints with human resources about her workload and exclusion from meetings where her supervisors called her names behind her back.
- Over at Amazon, drivers say the company isn’t doing enough to address a dog bite problem, and that they should be allowed to carry defensive spray.
- A rank smell led police to human remains inside of a blue recycling bin left outside of a TD Bank in Queens.
- Citi Bike is doing away with a loophole that allows riders to unlock an e-bike for free. Riders used to be able to skip the e-bike fees if there were no non-electric bikes available at a dock. Citi Bike’s new rules will make it so riders can either pay the e-bike fees, or choose a “low-power” option which makes the bike feel more like a standard, non-electric bike.
- Fat Joe dropped $100,000 on new clothes to give away for free to students at a Bronx high school.
- McDonald’s is facing yet another lawsuit over hot coffee after a California woman was allegedly hurt when she spilled a “scalding” cup of coffee on herself.
- Riding hundreds of roller coasters all over the world sounds like a great way to spend my retirement years.
- And finally, my dream day in the life:
