- The accolades just keep coming for New York's top elected official and resident "cool dude." Governor Andrew Cuomo, who received an Emmy award this week for his daily COVID-19 press briefings, has now been nominated for Time Magazine's Person of the Year, along with the nation's most prominent public health expert Dr. Anthony Fauci. The winner will be announced on December 10th.
- The Times reveals that prior to withdrawing the U.S. from the World Health Organization, President Trump provided the agency with a list of some reasonable and some not so reasonable demands. “It wasn’t a negotiation. It was blackmail," said Lawrence Gostin, a Georgetown University law professor.
- In another pro sports casualty of the pandemic, Lamar Jackson, the star quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens, has reportedly tested positive for coronavirus. The high-profile player's infection could mean that the NFL may need to extend its season by a week.
- For better or worse, the day after Thanksgiving means the beginning of a blitz of gift guides and year end lists. The Times has its annual list of presents for "all the beloved but quirky, picky, fancy, practical or eccentric people" in your life. And a New Yorker staff writer offered up her top 10 albums of 2020.
- Prior to his death, Jeopardy host Alex Trebek recorded a touching Thanksgiving message for his fans.
- Finally, on Thanksgiving Day, President Trump took questions from reporters for the first time since he lost the election to Joe Biden and delivered a viral-worthy tantrum earning the hashtag #DiaperDon. Check out the oddly tiny desk he was sitting at which drew jokes on Twitter and then watch/enjoy his outburst:
