It’s Thursday afternoon in New York City, and Rep. Mike Lawler is hoping the 2024 presidential election is proof that New York is ready for a Republican governor.
Here’s what else is happening:
- It turns out that P’Nut the squirrel, who became a social media star after New York state authorities confiscated him from a couple that took him in as a pet seven years ago, did not have rabies.
- A judge ordered former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani to pay Georgia election workers $148 million in a defamation case and seized his finances to do so, and now Giuliani says he can’t afford to buy food.
- Times are tough for New York City’s craft beer industry amid high rents and labor costs and steep competition.
- Ben & Jerry’s is suing its parent company, Unilever, over claims that Unilever attempted to censor the ice cream maker’s support for Palestinian refugees.
- Dressing in a bear costume and forging a video in which you attack a luxury vehicle to defraud your insurance company is probably a bad idea.
- The Onion now owns Infowars and the rest of Alex Jones’ media empire.
- New York state’s population may drop significantly in the coming years, according to a report from Cornell University's Jeb E. Brooks School of Public Policy’s Program on Applied Demographics, which estimated the state could have 2 million fewer people by 2050.
- And finally, it makes sense to him!
