It’s Thursday afternoon in New York City, where Mayor Eric Adams could lose some executive power.
Here’s what else is happening:
- NYC has a new sculpture in Union Square that spells out the word “love,” but it’s missing the letter “e” on purpose.
- New Jersey’s own Angelina Pivarnick, best known for her role in “Jersey Shore," is facing criminal charges after an incident over the weekend that her lawyer chalked up to “an adverse reaction to prescribed over-the-counter medication.”
- The New York DMV just added new designs to their custom license plate selection: the 12 zodiac signs.
- An assistant professor at Long Island's Stony Brook University was part of a team who helped identify a new long-necked herbivorous dinosaur in Zimbabwe.
- A possible salmonella outbreak linked to cucumbers has infected at least 162 people across 25 states, largely in Pennsylvania, Florida, Virginia and New York.
- Author Suzanne Collins said she's releasing another "Hunger Games" novel next year, and it's set 24 years before the original story.
- The dirtiest city in the U.S., according to a recent study, is Houston, Texas. New York City came in at No. 12, but a few of its neighbors — Newark, Jersey City and Yonkers — were in the top 10.
