It’s Thursday afternoon in New York City where a G train shutdown is looming.
Here’s what else is happening:
- Whitestone Lanes, a beloved bowling alley in Queens, is slated to be torn down and replaced with a housing development. But some regulars are still fighting for its survival.
- The corner of Bedford Avenue and Avenue P in Midwood, Brooklyn was renamed “Ruth Bader Ginsburg Way” in honor of the late Supreme Court justice who attended high school on the same block.
- Several of New York City's Italian restaurants offer jarred versions of their marinara sauce. But which one has the best? According to Eater, it’s Patsy’s.
- New York now has a “Youth Workers Bill of Rights” that outlines several rights young workers are entitled to, including time to study, rest and attend school.
- Lightning struck the Empire State Building during last night’s storm. See photos of it here.
- Taco Bell and Cheez-It teamed up two years ago to collaborate on some products, including a tostada made from a massive Cheez-It cracker. Those items will now be available nationwide.
- The Trucking Association of New York is the latest group to file a lawsuit challenging New York City’s impending congestion pricing tolls. The group’s president says the group isn't against the overall plan, but disagrees with the way that “trucks are being targeted.”
