It’s Thursday afternoon in New York City, where you can mingle with cats and maybe even adopt one at a new cat cafe on the Lower East Side.
Here’s what else is happening:
- O.J. Simpson has died from cancer at the age of 76.
- Legendary DJ Mister Cee also died, though his cause of death has not yet been revealed. He was a staple at Hot 97 and helped launch the careers of artists like Jay-Z and 50 Cent.
- Acorn, an explosive detecting dog who worked for the Brooklyn Nets, has officially retired. She rocked a jersey and got to take the game ball home last night as a farewell.
- There are regulars at restaurants, and then there are super regulars, like this guy who dines at EJ’s Luncheonette on the Upper East Side at least three times a week. His go-to order? Chicken schnitzel on Wednesdays.
- In the spirit of iced coffee season, this Bon Appetit article ranks the best at-home cold brews.
- A dead humpback whale was found on a Jersey Shore beach on Thursday morning.
- A bill moving through the New York state Legislature would force towns with post-Prohibition bans on alcohol sales to lift them.
- Girls just wanna have…feminine leisure.
And finally, swim mode:
