Good Tuesday morning in New York City, where the City Council speaker wants to expand the number of libraries with seven-day service.
Here's what else is happening:
- A new worker safety watchdog report found that 30 construction workers died on the job in New York City in 2023, which is the highest figure in a decade.
- U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy recently posted a 26-second video featuring five guys in Manhattan saying they don't like congestion pricing.
- NJ.com has updated its extremely thorough worst-to-best ranking of all 12 dine-in restaurants at the American Dream megamall.
- J.D. Vance got relentlessly heckled on his Vermont ski trip last weekend. (TMZ footage also shows what might be a child crashing into his Secret Service detail?)
- In other winter sports news, there isn't enough snow in Alaska to hold a normal Iditarod dog sled race, so organizers have had to move it north and completely redraw the course.
- The New York Times interviewed a Syrian immigrant who's a cosmetic doctor in Massachusetts (and a Republican) and bought a $113,000 gold Cybertruck wrapped in decals to advertise his business — and is now desperate to get rid of the vehicle because of the Elon Musk association.
- Carl Dean, who owned a Nashville asphalt-paving business and otherwise kept a low profile during more than 60 years of marriage to county superstar Dolly Parton, has died at the age of 82. (Radiolab's series "Dolly Parton's America" is worth revisiting.)
- Pope Francis update: He's "alert, focused and cooperative."
