Good Wednesday morning in New York City, where Astoria has its first legal weed shop.
Here's what else is happening:
- A thousand drones are scheduled to fly around Manhattan on Saturday night as part of a public art show meant to resemble a murmuration of birds, or "silent fireworks."
- New York City is on pace to build only 11,000 new housing units this year, which is about half of what the city added in 2022.
- Mayor Adams' chief adviser, Ingrid Lewis-Martin, sat down for tea and a selfie with Republican Councilmember Inna Vernikov a few days after Vernikov was arrested for bringing a gun to a pro-Palestinian rally.
- If you're looking for someone to cheer for in this year's New York City Marathon, former hockey star Zdeno Chára, who's 6'9", will probably be the easiest runner to spot in the crowd.
- Zoomers actually use their sick days when they're sick, and bosses are annoyed.
- "Depp, personable though I’m sure he is, is so overblown – I mean Edward Scissorhands! Let’s face it, if you come on with hands like that and pale, scarred-face makeup, you don’t have to do anything. And he didn’t": Succession's Brian Cox talked some s**t in this long Guardian interview.
- New Mexico prosecutors say they have "additional facts" about the Rust shooting, and plan to re-charge Alec Baldwin with involuntary manslaughter.
- There's a National Toy Hall of Fame in Rochester and the Fisher-Price Corn Popper is somehow not already in there (but it's up for consideration this fall, along with the pogo stick, PEZ dispensers and some other classics).
- And finally, not impressed:
