Good Wednesday morning in New York City, where subway station bathrooms are pretty nice now — if you can find them.
Here's what else is happening:
- Dawn Pinnock, commissioner of NYC's Department of Citywide Administrative Services, announced her resignation yesterday, joining a group of other top Adams administration officials who've left before the end of Mayor Eric Adams' first term.
- Meanwhile, Mayor Adams is trying to hire Randy Mastro — who worked under Mayor Rudy Giuliani and then defended New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie during the Bridgegate scandal — to serve as the city's top lawyer.
- A new bill in the City Council would ban all "non-essential" helicopter traffic at the city's heliports until the federal government approves the technology for electric (and quieter) takeoffs and landings.
- The MTA is pretty certain this 30-year-old turnstile at the Grand Central–42nd Street station is the busiest turnstile in the entire subway system.
- Ms. Rachel doesn't approve of the Adams administration's cuts to 3-K and pre-K programs.
- How did this 2010 video of Tony and Carmela Soprano, Chris Rock, Donald Trump, Spike Lee and Harvey Weinstein all begging LeBron James to join the Knicks fail to convince him?
- New chess scandal: A French grandmaster was walking way too loudly in the playing hall.
- The coming double-brood of cicadas is great news for cicada-killer wasps.
- Demetri Martin is 50.
- And finally, hell yes:
