Good Tuesday morning in New York City, where the housing planned for the Elizabeth Street Garden could get built elsewhere.
Here’s what else is happening:
- If your $5+ million primary residence in New York City is owned not by you but by a trust, that can set off the pied-à-terre tax dogs.
- Internal survey says: New York City's chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America is 60% white. (The survey continues: 12% [identified] as Jewish, 14% as Hispanic, 9% as Black, 10% as Asian, 5% as South Asian, 4% as Middle Eastern, 2% as Native American and less than 1% as Pacific Islander.)
- "Sometimes, this just happens in New York": A Turo customer service representative on why the app-based rental car company didn't provide the car that had been booked — and then told the booker she straight-up wasn't eligible to use Turo in New York.
- Former New York City Traffic Commissioner Sam Schwartz co-wrote his first novel, "Autokill," which is about autonomous vehicles behaving badly.
