Good Monday morning in New York City, where Joro spiders the size of your hand are coming.
Here's what else is happening:
- Surveillance footage from inside a Staten Island cannabis shop during an NYPD raid shows officers jumping over the counter and handcuffing the shopkeeper after he asked if they had a court order — all before the cops even found any unlicensed weed — raising concerns about how the police are carrying out this crackdown.
- Two years into the city's crackdown on unlicensed scooters, about 23,000 bikes — many of which were confiscated from immigrant delivery workers — are currently being held at an impound pier in Red Hook.
- Amid all the anti-congestion pricing lawsuits about air pollution and rerouted traffic, there's another reason why people oppose the tolling program: Car ownership is a status symbol and some New Yorkers just like to drive.
- A new study from a lawn care company found that Newark is the second dirtiest city in the U.S. (Jersey City came in 5th and New York City came in 12th.)
- The French Open is banning alcohol in the stands because drunk fans keep yelling stuff during points.
- A male birth control gel that you rub on your shoulders once a day has proven effective in trials.
- The New York Transit Museum is running two of its Nostalgia Rides from Manhattan to the beach this summer.
- And finally, peace agreement:
