Good Thursday morning in New York City, where we could be getting expensive new sidewalks on 5th Avenue.
Here's what else is happening:
- An injured deer hobbled through the Upper West Side earlier this week before being euthanized by animal control.
- "I smell money," said Mayor Adams during the start of a crypto conference at Gracie Mansion this week, where he also expressed interest in using blockchain to record births and deaths.
- Here's a guide to all the borough president candidates.
- Today I learned that the psychological exam for NYPD academy applicants involves a true-or-false written test that takes between five and six hours to complete.
- Today I also learned that Burlington Coat Factory is named after Burlington, New Jersey — not the town in Vermont. (The coat store's founder, Monroe Milstein, has died at 98.)
- They keep trying to make the South Street Seaport a real neighborhood and not just a nice place to drink outside during the summer.
- Rock bands with singers who wear masks are back in.
- It's a palindrome day.
- And finally, many steal for sport, but more steal to eat.
