Good Wednesday morning in New York City, where Mayor Adams is due back in court.
Here's what else is happening:
- After a Prospect Heights man repeatedly called 311 about cop cars parked on the sidewalk outside a precinct, one NYPD officer got the guy's number and left him a series of prank voicemails. Now that officer is being fined $500 and docked 60 days of leave.
- A Coney Island bar owner who says he refused to pay ex-NYPD Commissioner Edward Caban's brother for consulting is planning to file a lawsuit after, he says, swarms of cops kept showing up at the bar over "noise complaints."
- Assault charges against John Gotti Jr.'s wife and daughter over their role in a brawl at a Long Island high school basketball game back in February have been dropped due to the failure of Nassau County prosecutors to present evidence in a timely manner.
- The federal justice department is launching an investigation into the 1921 Tulsa race massacre — in which a white mob killed hundreds of Black Tulsa residents and burned down what was known as "Black Wall Street" — after the Oklahoma Supreme Court earlier this year dismissed a lawsuit brought by the last two living survivors.
- The "secret" Bronx bodega dance party looks fun.
- Joshua Johnson, the former host of NPR's "1A," is hosting a revived version of The Onion's satirical news show.
- Fat Bear Week has been delayed because one of the fat grizzlies killed a rival fat bear.
- Name these tarantulas!
- And finally, what could it be:
