A Staten Island man on Wednesday was arrested for striking and killing a woman in Brooklyn while driving a Department of Sanitation garbage truck last week, according to the NYPD.
Timothy A. Mcvey, 41, was charged with failure to yield to a pedestrian and failure to exercise due care, the NYPD said.
Siobhan Lynch, 30, of Brooklyn, was crossing the parkway at Cropsey Avenue around 6:35 p.m. on Oct. 28 when the garbage truck, heading east, turned right onto the parkway and hit her, police said.
Emergency services took Lynch to NYU Langone Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Mcvey stayed at the scene, police said.
“This is a terrible tragedy, and our thoughts are with the family of the victim,” Department of Sanitation spokesperson Joshua Goodman told Gothamist in an email last week.
Information on Mcvey’s attorney was not immediately available.
