A driver was found with an apparent gunshot wound to the head after a single-vehicle crash on the George Washington Bridge Tuesday night, according to the Port Authority.

Port Authority police received reports of the crash on the bridge's westbound upper level around 7:06 p.m., officials said. Officers found the injured driver, who was taken to Englewood Medical Center in New Jersey. The driver's condition was not immediately clear.

No other injuries were reported, authorities said.

The westbound upper level was closed Tuesday night as police investigated the incident, according to the Port Authority.

The incident sparked significant traffic disruptions. The Port Authority reported delays of up to 90 minutes on the upper level heading into New York as of 9:15 p.m.

NJ Transit also said buses traveling to and from the George Washington Bridge Bus Terminal were experiencing delays of up to 30 minutes.

The Port Authority also reported that the bridge's Northwalk was closed to pedestrians and cyclists, with the South Walk available as an alternative.

This is a developing story and may be updated.
