A Bronx bodega employee was fatally shot at work on Tuesday morning — the second killing of a deli worker in the borough in the span of just a few days.

The 20-year-old victim was shot in the torso at around 11:15 a.m. inside the Deli Grocery on White Plains Road and East 216th Street, according to an NYPD spokesperson. He was rushed to the hospital in critical condition and pronounced dead less than an hour later.

Police believe the young man was shot by an 18-year-old following a "dispute" at the deli. Police sources told both PIX11 and ABC-7 that the employee was preparing a sandwich when he was shot in the back.

Two suspects have been taken into custody and were being questioned as of Tuesday afternoon, police said.

On Friday night, Yahya Alumnster, a 34-year-old Bronx bodega worker, was fatally shot while working the counter at B&A Gourmet Deli in Mott Haven. He was struck several times in the chest by a lone gunman, who remains at large, police said.

This weekend, customers remembered Alumnster as a generous presence in the community, who'd often joke around with customers. A local association of deli owners has announced a $10,000 reward for any information related to the shooter's arrest and conviction.

Police have not yet shared the identity of Tuesday's victim. We'll update as more information becomes available.
