Police found a decomposing body inside a Bronx apartment over the weekend, according to the NYPD.
Officers were conducting a wellness check at 800 East 179th St. at around 2 p.m. Saturday when they found a person in a state of decomposition, police said.
EMS responded and pronounced the person dead at the scene, police said. The chief medical examiner's office will determine the cause of death and a police investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
The NYPD did not release any further information regarding what triggered the wellness check, or the identification of the individual.
