Police are searching for a man who was caught on a security camera forcing himself on a woman in an elevator at a Brooklyn subway station.
The unidentified 50-year-old woman got on the elevator at the Jay Street-MetroTech station just before 5 a.m. on November 22nd. According to investigators, a man followed her on the elevator, and when the door closed, he kissed her against her will and touched her private area. The man fled in an unknown direction following the assault, while the victim was uninjured. The NYPD released this video:
The man is described as approximately 50-years-old, 5'11" tall, 220 lbs with salt and pepper hair, and was last seen wearing a black jacket and blue slacks.
Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime stoppers website or by texting their tips to 274637 (CRIMES) then enter TIP577.
If you see or experience sexual misconduct in the subway (this includes seeing a masturbator, being groped, being grinded on, etc.), you can report it to the MTA and police on this website. There's also a place for you to upload photos and/or video. Don't let the perverts win.
