The polar vortex didn't stop Citi Bike riders, and it certainly didn't stop cops from ticketing frozen-over cars. Ticketing agents were on the prowl in the East Village this week, handing out $65 fines to drivers regardless of whether they were trapped in sheets of ice, the Post reports.
"The ice was over where I was parked, [they] could see there was ice where I was,” said David Griffith, one of several victims. “They shouldn’t be giving out tickets when you can’t move out your car.”
The stuck cars were apparently the result of a crack in the street the city has failed to repair, says EV Grieve. Seems like a worthy project that could be financed by those $65 tickets!
