Police are searching for a man who allegedly raped a woman who was collecting cans in Queens early Friday.
They say that the incident took place a little before 1 a.m. yesterday on 83rd Street near 30th Avenue in Jackson Heights. The 40-year-old victim was looking through recyclables when the suspect "lured" her to the rear of the building at 30-32 83rd Street. He then raped here there at knifepoint.
The News reports that the suspect, described as a “skinny” Hispanic man between 20-30 years old and wearing all black, approached her and said he had more cans for her behind his home. The suspect fled on a bicycle from the scene, and the woman was taken to Elmhurst Hospital.
Cops say no arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS. The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers Website or texting their tips to 274637(CRIMES) then entering TIP577.
