A driver reversed an SUV onto a sidewalk in Coney Island on Wednesday afternoon, killing an 89-year-old woman, police said.
The crash happened just before 1 p.m. at 535 Neptune Ave., where police said an 86-year-old man driving a Chrysler Town & Country put the vehicle in reverse and jumped the curb, hitting three pedestrians.
The 89-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the hospital, authorities said. A 43-year-old woman and another 75-year-old woman were taken to Maimonides Medical Center in stable condition, according to officials. The extent of their injuries was not immediately available.
The driver was also taken to Maimonides in stable condition, police said.
No charges have been filed and the NYPD said the investigation is ongoing.
Officials have not released the names of those involved, pending family notification.
