Just days after a bus headed to Chinatown crashed in the Bronx, killing 15 people, a bus headed from Chinatown to Philadelphia crashed on the NJ Turnpike last night, killing the driver and a passenger. WCBS 2 reports, "Investigators said no other vehicles were involved when the bus rode up onto the grassy center median and then struck an overpass support, before it crashed into an embankment on the right side of the road."
Five people are also in critical condition; there were over 40 people on board the bus which is operated by Super Luxury Tours out of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. One passenger told the Star-Ledger, "I heard people screaming, and then I blacked out... When I woke up I was on the ground, someone had carried me out." Another said that the bus had a flat tire, "It felt like we hit a ditch. The bus started rocking. It felt like we were going to tumble over... I hit my head and fell to the floor. Everything was falling down. People were crying and screaming."
The victims who were killed were driver Wei Wang, 50, of Forest Hills, N.Y., and passenger Troy Nguyen, 20, of Royersford, Pa.
