A baby girl was rescued by a group of good Samaritans in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn yesterday, after she climbed out of a window and crawled atop a store awning.

Eighteen-month-old Ayana was home with her mother and grandmother at about 2 p.m. yesterday afternoon, when she apparently crawled out of her second-floor window past an air-conditioning unit and ended up on top of the Computer Tenda Tech Inc. store awning below. Luckily, Ayana was spotted by Qing Chen, 27, an employee at a pharmacy across the street. "She almost fell a few times—she was just crawling around," Chen told the Post. "She stopped by the ‘o’ on the ‘computer’ sign. I yelled out to her, ‘Don’t move! Don’t move!’ That’s when she started crying."

Chen enlisted the help of his co-workers and employees at the computer store, wrangling a ladder that turned out to be too short before knocking on doors and finding Ayana's grandmother. "I'm like 'Your baby is outside, she's about to fall, I need to get her,'" Chen told NBC News. He was then able to snatch the baby off the awning, much to the relief of the spectators below. "We saw the baby crawling and it was crawling towards the edge and it was like, whoa," Gleb Chemerisov, a witness said.

Ayana was taken to Maimonides Medical Center, but she reportedly suffered no injuries; her grandmother, meanwhile, says she was shaken by the event. "“I don’t feel good,” she told the Daily News. “I watch her all the time.” Officials say Children's Services are investigating the incident; NYC requires apartments with children under 10 to have window guards.
